How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Annapurna Base Camp is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will too, you can.

How long do we walk every day when doing Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

What is the highest altitude reached in this trek?

The highest altitude reached is 4190m. This is the elevation of Annapurna Base Camp. ABC is the highest we will climb in this trek.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Yes, you can charge batteries en route. Charger should be brought. There are hot shower facilities as well. You may have to pay a certain amount for both ($1-$2). Negotiate. Also, a hot water facility could be free at a lower elevation.

Are there ATMs on the way to Annapurna Base Camp?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.

What about internet access?

Yes. The Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. The Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

Not really. It depends on you. If you want, ABC trekking can be done independently. You could hire a guide and a porter by yourself instead of going through an agency or not hire a guide at all. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic during the offseason. It really depends on you. Is it your first time in Nepal? How confident are you of being able to find your way around? How pressed on time are you? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.

How much do guides and porters cost?

For the Annapurna region, pay for guides range from $20 to $30 per day and porters take $15 to $25 per day.

Day 1 :

LEH ARRIVAL AND TRANSFER TO HOTEL

Our representative will receive you in Leh airport. Transfer to hotel in Leh. Complete day rest for acclimatisation. Evening free to visit the Leh main market on your own. Overnight and Dinner at Hotel in Leh

Day 2 :

LEH SIGHTSEEING (45 KM’S /3 HOURS ONE WAY DRIVE)

Enjoy the crux of the famed tourist spots of Leh in a day. After an early breakfast visit to the centuries old Leh palace. Next drive 40 km’s towards east of Leh town for Hemis Monastery, which is considered to be the richest monastery in entire Ladakh. On the journey back stop at Thiksey Monastery and Shey Palace. Spend the evening at Shanti Stupa and enjoy the spectacular view of Leh town and Sunset in the Himalayas.

Day 3 :

SHAM VALLEY TOUR (50 KM’S /3 HOURS DRIVE ONE WAY)

After an early breakfast leave for Nimoo to see the magnificent view of the Confluence of Indus and Zanskar river at Nimoo. The spot is also famously known as Sangam. Stop at Magnetic Hill and Gurduwara Pathar Saheb on the journey back. Reach leh by evening. Evening enjoy the mesmerizing view of sunset from Shanti Stupa. Overnight and dinner at Hotel in Leh

Day 4 :

LEH TO NUBRA (130 KM’S/ 5 HOURS DRIVE)

Early morning drive to Nubra valley passing through Khardungla, which is the highest motorable pass in the world at an altitude of 18,380 ft. Reach Nubra Valley by afternoon. Enjoy the spectacular view of Shayok valley and don’t miss on Desert Safari ride of famous Himalayan Doubled-hump Camel in Hunder. Overnight in Nubra Valley.

Day 5 :

NUBRA-PANGONG (160 KM’S/ 7 HOURS)

After an early breakfast visit the monastery in Diskit. Near to the monastery you’ll see the giant statue of future Buddha, also known as Gyalwan Chamba. Next we’ll drive towards the eastern border of Ladakh crossing the Shayok Valley. Reach Pangong by afternoon. The Lake is around 4-5 kms wide and over 135 kms long, of which about two/third of the lake lies on the other side of the Indo-China Border. Overnight at Camp with a spectacular view of the Lake.

Day 6 :

TURTUK DAY TOUR (80KM’S ONE WAY/ 2-3 HOURS DRIVE)

After a lavish breakfast at Hotel, drive towards Turtuk Village. The last border village on the India side of LAC, Turtuk was a part of POK till 1970’s. The village is one of the most beautiful village in entire Ladakh, also unique for its inhabitants of the Balti Ethnic origin. Return back to Nubra, Hunder by evening. Overnight and Dinner at Hotel/Camp in Hunder.

Day 7 :

PANGONG TO LEH (135 KM’S/ 5 HOURS)

Get up early to not to miss the mesmerizing sunrise view at Pangong lake. After enjoying your breakfast on the shores of Pangong lake. proceed towards the nearby village to explore the local lifestyle. Return to Leh by late afternoon. Rest of the day free to explore local market and for shopping.

Day 8 :

AIRPORT DROP

Early morning departure to Leh airport.
